LSOH2Producers have announced a new UK tour of musical comedy Little Shop Of Horrors, which will open at Bournemouth Pavilion on 4 August 2016. RHYDIAN, whose previous stage credits include We Will Rock You, Grease, Jesus Christ Superstar and The Rocky Horror Show, will play sadistic dentist Orin Scrivello.

The ’50s musical sci-fi spoof has a book and lyrics by Howard Ashman, music by Alan Menken and is based on the film by Roger Corman with a screenplay by Charles Griffith. Produced by Sell a Door Theatre Company, the tour will be directed by Tara Wilkinson, with choreography by Matthew Cole and musical supervision from Mark Crossland.

Down and out florist assistant Seymour becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers an exotic plant with a macabre craving. Secretly in love with his colleague Audrey he names the plant Audrey II in her honour. Audrey II has plans that are far greater than Seymour can imagine as it grows into a bad-tempered, foul-mouthed carnivore who offers fame and fortune in exchange for feeding its growing appetite.

Little Shop Of Horrors opens at Bournemouth Pavilion on 4 August before touring to Llandudno, Wimbledon, Belfast, Woking, Aylesbury, Lichfield, Birmingham, Cardiff, Bridlington, Cheltenham, Coventry, Manchester, Glasgow and Blackpool.

“This album was to me what’s known as a no-brainer. I’m a rugby fan; I also used to play the sport and I love singing rugby songs and anthems. The fact that the World Cup is being held in the British Isles in 2015 made to decision to record ‘Carry The Fire’ all the more straightforward.
If you’ve followed my career from the very beginning, you will know that during my childhood the goal was to become an international rugby player. That, unfortunately, never came to pass but, somehow, when I sing these great rousing songs, I feel all engulfed in the thrill, the duel, the wonderful atmosphere that is rugby union. In Welsh we call it ‘Hiraeth’ I suppose!
On this album I have tried to include songs from all of the home nations and I’ve also co-written two original songs, ‘Come On Ye Faithful’ and ‘Take Me Home’.
So, no matter what the result of the tournament, or indeed any sporting battle, one thing that will always unite us is music sung from the heart.
In ‘Carry The Fire’ I hope we will share that in abundance!
